Shock G's Cause Of Death Revealed

Digital Underground frontman/founder Gregory "Shock G" Jacobs died on April 22 in Tampa, FL. The death of the beloved rapper/producer now has an official cause. According to the initial case summary released by the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's office, Shock G died of an accidental drug and alcohol overdose. 

Reports indicate that Jacobs died specifically from an overdose of fentanyl, ethanol and methamphetamine. He was found unresponsive in a hotel room in April at the age of 57.

Shock G was known to the world as the musically gifted frontman of Digital Underground, bringing a P-Funk sensibility to Hip-Hop in the early 1990s. He was also famously a successful producer and DJ, having collaborated with artists such as 2Pac, Prince and MURS on a variety of projects.
