RZA's Bobby Digital Is Back With New Graphic Novel: "A Long Overdue Achievement..."

Bobby Digital has returned. Rapper/producer RZA's famous alter ego is back in a new graphic novel and soundtrack called RZA Presents: Bobby Digital and The Pit of Snakes. RZA has dropped "We Push," the first single from the project, which was co-produced by RZA and Stone Mecca.

The eight-song soundtrack drops via 36 Chambers ALC/MRNK. The sound is diverse; with rock and soul melded into the chiefly Hip-Hop-driven project.

“The character Bobby Digital getting his first official first graphic novel is a long-overdue achievement,” RZA said in a press release. “Growing up as an avid comic reader, it’s an honor to add my creativity to this amazing platform of storytelling. Z2 Comics understands that music artists resonate in the comic book/graphic novel world and this relationship is destined to grow.”

Earlier this year, RZA and DJ Scratch dropped their collaborative project Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater, which included the singles "Fate Of the World" and the title track. On that project, (which was originally intended to be a Bobby Digital album), RZA handed production duties over to Scratch.

"I came across a track that DJ Scratch had submitted for the [Wu-Tang Clan] 8 Diagrams album," RZA explained to RTB in March. "It was a dope track but the Wu brothers never spit on it. There wasanotherone that he played for me a few years ago and I just never forgot about it."

The graphic novel RZA Presents: Bobby Digital and The Pit of Snakes will be released on July 22 via Z2 Comics.
