Nas has reason to celebrate!
The legendary emcee won his first ever Grammy Award on Sunday (March 14) at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. His thirteenth album, Kings Disease, took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album, capping the project's critically-acclaimed run.
Released in 2020, King's Disease has been hailed as a return to form for the veteran artist, who worked with superproducer Hit-Boy on most of the album, which features A$AP Ferg, Anderson.Paak, Charlie Wilson, Fivio Foreign and Big Sean, among others.
With the praise for King's Disease, last fall Nas talked about why his previous album, the Kanye West-produced NASIR, was lackluster back in 2018.
"We spent some time there, but I was working on ideas. He would give me a few loops and I would write to them but they wasn’t finished. He was working on a lot, he had Cudi, Teyana Taylor, he had his album. I was the only one coming in starting fresh. So I got the less time with him. We really did that album like, that week that it was supposed to come out."
He also recently discussed newer artists and praised the late Pop Smoke.
“We were happy to see that young king come up,” Nas said. “He was a breath of fresh air. The drill movement in London, Chicago and New York is really exciting.”
