Nas Admits He Would Make Changes To Two of His Albums

Nas has over two decades of classic material throughout his 14 album catalog. Even with his top-tier catalog of timeless music, the Queens emcee admits there are a few things he would change as he looks back at his career. In a recent interview for i-D Magazine, the rap veteran was asked if he would redo any of his albums if given a chance. Nas answered yes; he explained he would make changes to I am… and Nastradamus. “I don’t even know what’s on those albums. I could probably remember two songs for each album,” he responded.

Nas’ third studio album, I Am… came five years after his magnum opus debut, Illmatic, in 1999. The album includes singles like “Nas Is Like” and “Hate Me Now.” The LP landed Nas a No.1 on the Billboard charts, but fans criticized it for being too commercial for the Queens wordsmith.

Only seven months after I Am…, Nas dropped Nastradamus, debuting at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. The album sold significantly less than its predecessor despite fan anticipation, selling only 232,000 copies in the first week.

Nas continues to drop timeless music, dropping the AOTY contender, King’s Disease II, earlier this year, the sequel to his Grammy Award Winning Album 2020’s King’s Disease.
