Missy Elliott has a unique spin on a traditional Christmas tree. The iconic multi-hyphenate shared a video for the holidays, showing her fans her special holiday decorations in her home. Missy posted a Reel on Instagram, showcasing her three uniquely-designed Christmas trees.
“This tree is a different kind of tree,” she said as she highlighted one of them. “This tree has vinyl and CDs on it. You got Aretha Franklin, you got Aaliyah, you got 2Pac. You got a Chaka Khan CD right there. You got Luther Vandross over there. You got Stevie Wonder up there.”
The trees are a collaboration between décor firms Opulence by Chavien Shy and Immaculate Events, and also featured Salt-N-Pepa, Prince, TLC, Diana Ross, Michael and Janet Jackson, as well as The Notorious B.I.G. The Christmas trees were also decorated with conventional ornaments, all in shades of black, red and white.
Earlier in December, the superstar delivered the keynote speech at the 109th Norfolk State University commencement ceremony.
"I am proud of y’all, and y’all should be proud of y'all," the "Lose Control" rapper said during the ceremony. "Now, I want y’all to look at each other and say, ‘You already won.’ Let ’em know. There ain’t no winning. You already won. Y’all could have been doing anything else these last few years. Y’all could have been wildin' out, but y’all decided to finish the course, and that’s major."
