Independent music company Reservoir Media has announced the acquisition of Grammy nominated producer and artist Mannie Fresh's music catalog. The acquisition includes both publishing and recorded music rights.
"It's great to be joining up with faith Newman and the entire Reservoir team", he said. "I'm grateful for their support, and I know they'll take care of my music."
Reservoir's executive vice president of A&R and catalog development Faith Newman also commented, “Mannie’s clever production cultivated a powerful moment for Southern hip-hop, and his distinctive sound helped pave the way for other producers for years to come. I have personally been a fan of his for decades, and it’s a pleasure to bring him into the Reservoir family.”
Mannie Fresh follows Marley Marl, the estate of Larry Smith and De La Soul in partnering with Reservoir. The New Orleans native has a rich history in Hop-Hop production dating back to his early 80s work with New York Incorporated with a young Mia X. He also released material with New Orleans rapper Gregory D in the late 80s and early 90s before joining Bryan "Baby" Williams' Cash Money Records as house producer where he topped the charts with Lil Wayne, B.G., Turk and Juvenile as the Hot Boys. He formed the Big Tymers with Baby and released five albums as well as his solo project, The Mind of Mannie Fresh.
After leaving Cash Money in 2005 Mannie signed with Def Jam South where he worked with Lil Jon and Rick Ross. He continues to DJ around the world currently.
