Dilla's mother Ma Dukes announced "The Dilla Collection" on J Dilla's birthday yesterday (2/7).
The collection is web3 digital and creates a new way to experience the music and cultural impact of the late producer and musician. The collection features iconic artwork by renowned artist Desiree Kelly, exclusive physical collector's items and interactive music collectibles that are exclusive to the collection. There is also a planned metaverse-based block party. The collection aims to give fans a glimpse into the life and works of one of Hip-Hop's most revered and influential producers curated by the person that knew him best, his mother Ma Dukes.
"In supporting this collection, you will have the chance to own a one-of-a-kind pair of Air Force 1's which were Dilla's favorites," Ma said in a statement. "I personally commissioned these myself paying homage to "The Shining" tour. This Moment was near and dear to my heart as it would be the last performance experience that I would share with my son before his untimely passing."
In other Dilla news, Questlove is helping to bring a Dilla documentary to the big screen. The doc will be based on Dan Charnas' book Dilla Time: The Life and Afterlife of J Dilla.
