M.C., producer and Diggin’ In the Crates (D.I.T.C.) founding member Lord Finesse dropped a new Bossmen remix of “Never, Never Gonna Give You Up” the 1973 hit by the late, great Barry White. “After the release of ‘Motown State of Mind’ I was called to work on this Barry White single to be released in time for Valentine’s Day. Never in a million years I could’ve dreamed, imagine or foreseen this” Finesse posted on Instagram. “Salute to my team this fire wouldn’t be possible without you.”
In addition to the remix there is a seven-minute extended version as well as an instrumental all available today (2/11) via Ume. Speaking of the track Finesse says “I kept the drums, brought up the vocals, tailored a sexy and soulful arrangement to complement the direction of the original song.” Lord Finesse was greatly influenced by the Maestro and sees his output as important to Hip Hop production as Kool & The Gang and James Brown.
“’Never, Never Gonna Give You Up’ is one of my favorites in his catalog” says Finesse who also remixed Motown State of Mind, which was a set of handpicked Motown classics such as “I Like It” by Debarge and “I Want You” by Marvin Gaye, released in June of 2020. Lord Finesse is currently working on more projects which are due later this year.
