LL COOL J to Mount Westmore: "Now We Are the Gatekeepers"

West coast supergroup Mount Westmore was recently interviewed by LL COOL J for ROCK THE BELLS radio where they discussed their current role as gatekeepers of the culture of Hip-Hop.

"At one time we were talking about the gatekeepers, and now we're the gatekeepers," LL said.

Ice Cube then expressed his appreciation for the OG's of the culture, and made an analogy to the current Deion Sanders situation. "I appreciate all the OG's", Cube explained. "To me, I know that they're talkin' shit about Deon, but when he went to the HBCU - I'm comin' to elevate what I know needs elevation. There's nobility in that. For you to come out here and say that you can't let Hip-Hop be in nobody else's hands, it's more than a gatekeeper, it's like a historian and a protector of the culture and teaching the youth what it was."

Mount Westmore recently released their self titled, full length debut album, and in an interview with ROCK THE BELLS group member E-40 expressed that the experience has proven to be much more than he expected.

"When I understood how good of a business decision it was, I didn't realize it was gonna be this much fun," he said. "Literally, the first time we walked out on stage together, it just was so far away from work as possible. And we even had to have a meeting about, 'hey, stop fanning out on each other onstage and kind of focus.' We doing the show, do the show because it was that much fun that I'm getting caught up in the show. I'm not even on the show. So that was unexpected for me. I didn't realize that much. It was gonna be this goddamned good!"

Mount Westmore's self-titled album is available here.
