Watch LL COOL J & DJ Z-Trip Peform "Illegal Search" for 'Play On'

Play On: A Benefit Concert is a music-aided charitable effort in support of NAACP Defense & Educational Fund and WhyHunger. On Tuesday night, musicians from all genres performed at historic venues like The Troubadour in Los Angeles, the Apollo Theater in New York City, and the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville.

LL COOL J and DJ Z-Trip hit the Troubadour stage for the first televised performance of "Illegal Search" from the Queens legends from his album, Mama Said Knock Out Out. The thematic exchange between an African-American man and a law enforcement officer unwilling to believe a person of color could have nice things seems quite appropriate for today's cultural conversation.

One of the evening's hosts, Eve, said of the event, “It’s been a really challenging year for everyone, and it’s time we continue to support social, environmental, racial and economic justice with the help of WhyHunger, NAACP Legal Defense & Educational Fund and Sixdegrees.org."
