Kendrick Lamar has shared the cover art for his upcoming album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
The Compton emcee shared the artwork via his oklama website, featuring Lamar in a crown of thorns holding a child; in the background is a woman cradling an infant in bed. All are sporting white tops, while Lamar is wearing khaki work pants with a gun tucked into his waistband.
Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is set to arrive on Friday (May 13). It serves as the follow-up to 2017’s Pulitzer Prize-winning album DAMN. Earlier this week, Lamar released the fifth installment to his “The Heart” series, paired with a chilling deep-fake video where the rapper morphs into Kanye West, Will Smith, Kobe Bryant, Nipsey Hussle and others.
Early projections predict Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 350,000 total album-equivalent units upon its release. DAMN. landed at No. 1 with over 603,000 total album-equivalent units in its first week of release, becoming his third consecutive album after 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly and 2016’s Untitled Unmastered to debut in the coveted spot.
