Kanye West has long cemented himself as a juggernaut in the fashion industry with his endless contributions to the high fashion and streetwear industry. On Friday (January 7), Ye took to his Instagram page with a post showing the next collaboration he’s working on behind the scenes.
Ye posted a photo of what appears to be a contract for an upcoming partnership between Gap, Balenciaga, and Kanye’s Yeezy brand. He left the post with no caption, leaving no additional details about the collaboration.
According to Vogue, Kanye West and Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, are teaming up for a project with Gap called Yezzy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga. The deal will be the first collaboration between the three iconic fashion brands.
“It is a vision come true to work with Gap and Demna, the creative director of Balenciaga, to make incredible product available to everyone at all times,” Ye told Vogue.
Demna added, “This is a very different challenge. I’ve always appreciated the utilitarianism and the accessibility of Gap. I share some of the same sensibilities in my creative language. This project allowed me to join forces [with Ye] to create utilitarian fashion for all.”
Kanye West worked with Demna last year, with the creative director helping the Ye design the stage sets and live streams for Ye’s highly publicized Donda listening events in Atlanta and Chicago.
The first collection from Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga merchandise is expected to arrive in June 2022, with another drop coming later in the year.
