Ja Rule is set to release exclusive new music in conjunction with his NFT project, Black Is Beautiful, which features 1,000 unique, one-of-one collectible NFTs. Launched through his company with partner Herb Rich, The Painted House, Black Is Beautiful offers a vivid depiction of the Black experience in America through the stunning work of illustrator Nick Davis. Ja told HipHopDX he's working on exclusive new music for Black Is Beautiful holders.
“They’ll get to own a piece of the project that we’re working on right now," he said. "That’s the beauty of NFTs. You can do these types of airdrops and these types of thank yous to your community for being a part of the project and supporting you in that way. So it’s really cool to be able to do that. I’m looking forward to releasing the project very soon.”
He said that Davis' artistic talent is something everyone should behold.
“Even if you can’t buy it, I think everybody needs to put their eyes on an experience and feel it," he said. "You know, it gives you a feeling when you look at it, it definitely takes you to emotional highs and lows.
So far, The Painted House has partnered with HBCUs to donate $50,000 to Jackson State University, Morgan State University, Hampton University, Spelman College, and Morehouse College.
In the same interview, the rapper said he's always working on new music, always thinking of new melodies. “First and foremost, I love music. I hear music. I wish I could play music but I can’t. I hear music and melodies in my head all the time. I’m always humming or singing some song.” he said. “I still rap every day even when I’m not recording or anything, I’m always creating. I love what I do, man. I love what I do.”
