Carmelo Anthony posted a retirement announcement video to his social media accounts on Monday (5/23). With Ghostface Killah's "All I Got Is You" playing in the background, Anthony, who played 19 seasons in the NBA, reminisced on the days before basketball when he had nothing.

"I remember the days when I had nothing, just a ball on the court and a dream of something more," he said. "Basketball was my outlet my purpose was strong and my communities, the cities that I represented with pride and the fans that supported me along the way. I'm forever grateful for those people and places because they made me Carmelo Anthony."

Many legends from the Hip-Hop community paid tribute to Anthony after the announcement. Nas narrated a tribute to Melo from Air Jordan.

"He didn't do it for the accolades or the Hall of Fame votes," Nas says in the video. "He did it for the kids in Red Hook, Murphy Homes projects, San Juan, those with hoop dreams, dreams of hope and beyond."

Ludacris, 9th Wonder, Rapsody and Raekwon commented on Carmelo's IG post. "Simply Thank You," Ludacris wrote, while 9th Wonder wrote, "One of my favorite players of ALL time brother. ALL time. Much love bro."

Fat Joe posted on his own IG page, "Well done. Congratulations, you deserve all the glory."

Carmelo Anthony was active in the NBA from 2003 until last year. He played with the Denver Nuggets, The New York Knicks, The Oklahoma City Thunder, The Houston Rockets, The Portland Trail Blazers and The LA Lakers. He is an 10 time NBA All-Star, 2013 scoring champion and 2003's NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. Check out his announcement above.
