Producer, emcee, and filmmaker Flying Lotus has announced his second feature film, Ash, coming off the heels of his body horror anthology Kuso, which made its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. Fly-Lo will be sitting in the director's chair for the forthcoming feature film, set to begin production this summer. 

The new project is a sci-fi horror film directed and composed by the multi-hyphenate, that tells the story of a woman who wakes up on a distant planet and finds the crew of her space station viciously murdered, prompting her to investigate the death of her friends, setting off a chain of terrifying events. 

Jonni Remmler wrote the film’s original screenplay. XYZ Films and GFC Films will produce, with Echo Lake on board as exec producer. XYZ is also financing and handling worldwide sales. Casting will get underway later this month in preparation for production, set to begin later this year. 

“I’ve a strong desire to innovate in the sci-fi space,” Flying Lotus said with regard to his latest film, “and I really want to show the world something they’ve never seen before.”

Flying Lotus is a genre-bending, Grammy Award-winning producer, composer, filmmaker, and rapper who founded and owns Brainfeeder Records. Since 2006, he has released six studio albums to global critical acclaim and composed much of the music heard on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. The multifaceted artist recently executive produced and scored the Netflix anime series Yasuke, directed by LeSean Thomas, starring LaKeith Stanfield.

Fly Lo is slated to appear on LL COOL J’s forthcoming album, executive produced by Q-Tip. LL indicated that "executive producer doesn't mean, "only producer in the kitchen."
