He was the nicest person you'd ever want to meet and he was a hardworking brother.

A Flavor Unit mainstay, Double J appeared on early 90s cuts like "Flavor Unit Assassination Squad" featuring Queen Latifah, Lakim Shabazz , Lord Alibaski and Apache as well as his own late 80's songs like "Cannibal Town" and "Bless The Funk." The bulk of Double J's music was released through 4th & Broadway where he released 1991's The Hitman, his only full-length album. He recently appeared on Chill Rob G's 2022 album Empires Crumble where he featured on "F.U." with Lakim Shabazz.

In a 2015 interview with RedBull Academy, Double J spoke about the early days of Flavor Unit's formation. "At the beginning, we’d be all in the basement and we was wondering what should we call it," he said. "Should we call it the “Flavor Posse”? It was already the Juice Crew, so we couldn’t use the “Flavor Crew.” I think it was Lakim Shabazz that said, 'Let’s call it the Flavor Unit.”'Ever since then, that’s what we rolled with. The word “Flavor” was Latee from “This Cut’s Got Flavor,” because that was the first record outta the crew that was poppin’ on the radio."

No official cause of death has been announced.
