Michael Turner, aka Double K, died this weekend (Jan. 30) at his home. Double K was one-half of Los Angeles duo People Under The Stairs.  A cause of death has not yet been revealed. Double K was 43 years old.

Double K and his partner Thes One formed People Under the Stairs in 1997, and quickly rose through the ranks in the legendary L.A. underground Hip-Hop scene. In 1998, the duo released their debut The Next Step, with Question in the Form of an Answer in 2000. O.S.T., arriving in 2002.

The duo opened for Mac Miller on tour in 2011. Their final album was 2019s Sincerely, The P.

“Where I grew up, there was the negative, and I had the positive, which was my music,” Double K told the Los Angeles Times in 2019. “I was surrounded by the negativity, the things going on in the streets, the stuff that I thought that I wanted to be a part of. I decided that this was more important. I just holed up in my room, listening to music, and then I met this dude and I had somebody else to listen to music with.”
