UPDATE: DMX Family Issues Statement; Kids Arrive at Hospital

DMX is still fighting for his life.

According to TMZ, the Yonkers rapper suffered a drug overdose on Friday (April 2) and has been rushed to the hospital, where he remains. The overdose reportedly triggered a heart attack. 

X, born Earl Simmons, is reportedly in a hospital in White Plains, New York and is in the critical care unit. Sources have claimed that DMX is in exhibiting low brain activity and could be in a "vegetative state."
Over the weekend it was reported that DMX has reportedly been taken off of life support and is breathing on his own and is breathing on his own. 

PIX 11 New York reports:
"Murray Richman, an attorney for DMX who’s worked with him for over 25 years, spoke to PIX11 News Saturday evening, confirming that the rapper was in the hospital as a result of a heart attack. He could not confirm that it had been induced by drugs.
Richman said that DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, is currently 'surrounded by family' and in what he described as 'grave condition.'”
 

UPDATE: 
 

TMZ reports:
"Some of DMX's children have flown to New York to visit their dad in the ICU -- a visit that could be a final goodbye -- but it's been complicated by COVID.


Family sources tell TMZ ... a number of DMX's kids have touched down in White Plains, NY, and are now on the ground at the hospital to get time with their father -- this as we're hearing his condition remains unchanged and dire."

DMX's family has also issued a statement to the press:
“On Friday night, April 2nd, 2021, our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital, facing serious health issues. 

“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges. Thank you.”
