The friendship between Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff is one of the most famous in entertainment and goes back to their early days in Philadelphia. As DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, they carved a mark in music; and, of course, Smith went on to TV fame as the star of NBC's hit Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, on which Jeff often guest-starred as his goofy buddy. And on Monday (Jan. 10), after Smith won the Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture for his performance in the drama King Richard, Jeff was loud in saluting his homie.
“He’s the Rapper/Actor and the winner!!!,” Jeff wrote on Instagram, referencing their Grammy-winning 1988 sophomore album He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper. “Congrats my brother! #GoldenGlobes #jjfp.”
King Richard stars Smith as Richard Williams, the father of future tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams. The movie explores how the proud dad was instrumental in motivating his daughters against all odds.
