Dipset's Jim Jones Trends on Twitter After Leonardo DiCaprio Movie Announcement

On Monday (November 8),  it was announced that Leonardo DiCaprio would be taking the role of the infamous cult leader, Jim Jones, in an upcoming MGM biopic. Dipset member, and Harlem legend, Jim Jones began trending on hip-hop Twitter after countless memes of the Titanic actor playing the “We Fly High,” emcee. 

The film will follow the life of the notorious religious leader who started his People Temple cult, who he would lead into a mass suicide on Jonestown, Guyana, in 1978, claiming the lives of 918 people. 

Rap fans took the news of the forthcoming film and ran with it. Creating a plethora of memes related to Leo taking on the role of Dipset’s bad boy. 

“I like some of the DiCaprio movies, wtf does he know about Dipset?” one person joked, while another tweeted, “Can’t wait to see how Leonardo DiCaprio reenact this scene in the Jim Jones movie!” along with a clip of Jones performing with his New York rival 50 Cent.

Jim Jones, whose real name is Joseph Guillermo Jones II, originally went by Jimmy Jones early in his career, took the name of the cult leader in 2004.
