Diddy Introduces Jozzy As 1st Love Records Signee; Calls Her "R&B Biggie"

Sean "Diddy" Combs recently announced his newest musical venture, Love Records and his partnership with Motown Records. While hosting the 2022 Billboard Awards (that he also executive produced) on Sunday (May 15) Diddy introduced his first Love Records signee Jozzy who debuted her new song “Replay” which will appear on her upcoming EP. The Memphis writer and vocalist is no stranger to the music business. having written Billy Ray Cyrus’ verse on Lil Nas X’s smash hit “Old Town Road.” She’s also written songs for Pharrell, Coldplay, Mary J Blige and Summer Walker. While announcing her signing to Love Records, Diddy called Jozzy the "R&B Biggie.”

Jozzy tweeted early on Monday (May 16): "Damn Puff just gave me the alley--now the music bout to speak for itself! #songsforwomen." Diddy is planning to release his first solo album since his 2006 release, Press Play. Coms recently spoke to Vanity Fair and explained his motivation for creating an all R&B label.

"I feel like R&B was abandoned and it's a part of our African American culture," he said. "I'm not signing any artist, I'm doing 50-50 partnerships with pure transparency because when you know better you do better. The new label lets us own the genre, because right now, we don't own Hip Hop. We have a chance to-and I'm going to make sure that we own R&B."
