On their Art Official Intelligence Radio show on Apple Music, De La Soul recently revealed that they declined tryouts for roles on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. According to HipHopDX, De La and their guest Queen Latifah shared tales of the missed opportunity. "A lot of people don't know that the Fresh Prince thing was offered to us," Pos recalled.

He added: "Russell Simmons was like 'Yo y'all need to try out, go out there.' We were like 'Nah, we rap and stuff.' Honestly we were scared, seriously we were scared." When Pos jokes that he could have been Will Smith, Latifah adds comic relief. "I could have been Will Smith, I could have married Jada Pinkett," Pos joked. Latifiah responded: "You definitely could have, but I think you good where you at right now."

Art Official Intelligence Radio with De La Soul is a five-part series commemorating the 35th anniversary of the group's groundbreaking debut album 3 Feet High and Rising. Guests include Common, Questlove, Tyler, The Creator, Dave Chapelle, and Talib Kweli. The show launches on 3/5 and airs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11a.m. PT on Apple Music 1.
