Conway The Machine Addresses "Gatekeeping" in New York Radio, Funk Flex Responds

Griselda's Conway The Machine took to Instagram Live on Monday (7/11) to vent about what he considers gatekeeping within New York radio. The Buffalo MC's rant appeared to be directed mostly at Hot 97 mainstay Funkmaster Flex.

"New York, in my opinion, man, you gotta get them old n-ggas up out the way, like Flex and them," Conway said. "You know what I mean? Them gatekeepers up there that try to dictate. Good thing I don't need y'all, cause if I needed y'all, you would be stifling my growth."

Conway also called out DJ Suss One and suggested that new blood is needed in New York radio. "Let some new, young really tapped in with the streets n-ggas be the DJs and run shit up there."

Funkmaster Flex responded to Conway's claim late Monday on Instagram.

"Let's begin! You're managed by Roc Nation (Jay Z), signed to Shady Records (Eminem) and distributed by Interscope (major label)," Flex posted. " You and your team have had features from Jadakiss, Eminem, Lil Wayne, J Cole, Jadakiss, Travis Scott, French Montana and more??? Wasn't you on Kanye's Donda album?"

Flex then labels Cownay a "40 plus bar rapper' and insinuates that he's done. "You're still not happy with your 'career' after all them co-signs? I think you may have peaked my guy."
