When many MCs "freestyle" on radio shows and at live events, their rhymes are assumed to be "off the top" or impromptu. Some appear to be spontaneous and others are clearly written. At the Chicago stop of LL COOL J's F.O.R.C.E. Tour, Chi-Town's favorite son, Common, dropped an impromptu Chicago dedication, backed by The Roots.
In his rhyme, he addressed a fan from Alabama who was by his side for the entire rhyme, and random people in the audience. He even shouted out Jennifer Hudson, his rumored current love interest, who was in attendance. It was evident that Common was rhyming in real time as he mentioned an audience members' Wu-Tang shirt.
As for the Alabama fan and his Chicago fam, he spit: "I love freestyin'/I love that she's smilin'/I love my people from Stony Island/and I can tell you sweetheart you know I got manners/but I still might wanna beat that shit up in Alabama."
