CL Smooth was a recent guest on Drink Champs, where he discussed the legacy of the late Heavy D, who was the cousin of CL's DJ and former groupmate Pete Rock. "Heavy D was to me a class act," the "T.R.O.Y." MC said. "He dressed immaculately, and he held himself in high regard, and knew how to conduct himself. Nobody moved like Heavy.

No one was as graceful on their feet. He had feathery feet. He had dancers, and he was keepin' up with them, and we are talkin' about a man close to three hundred pounds. Everybody's Momma loves Heavy D."

Heavy D mentioned Pete Rock and CL Smooth on 1989's "Girls They Love Me", marking the first time that most people ever heard of the duo. "Me, Glenn, and Troy went to a disco/Pete Rock and CL Smooth was on stage drinkin' Cisco," Hev said, providing the hook for "Mecca & The Soul Brother" two years later. Check out the episode above.
