Chris Rock Addresses His Oscar Assault At Boston Show

As the slap heard round the world continues to dominate social media, Chris Rock took the stage at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston last night (3/30) for his highly anticipated comedy show. Rock started the show with a question to the sold-out audience: “So how was your weekend?”

According to Rolling Stone, Rock told the crowd after a standing ovation that he was, “still processing” what happened at the Oscars — where he was slapped by nominee and winner Will Smith — after making a joke about Smith’s wife.

According to Rock, “I have a comedy show I wrote before all this shit.” He said further that the worst part of his weekend was finding out that his daughter didn’t get accepted to the University of Southern California.

Though this year’s Academy Awards show drew only 16 million viewers — the second lowest rated in the history of the show — Rock’s upcoming concerts have seen ticket prices sky rocket.

Many concert goers were upset that Rock didn't speak more on the confrontation with Smith, with one angry attendee stating: "Nothing about Will Smith. You guys wasted all your fuckin' money," before exiting the venue.

The Oscar story continues to grow legs as the Academy revealed on 3/30 that they asked Smith to leave after the assault, while several attendees with inside knowledge say that is false. The Academy has launched a formal investigation into the events from last Sunday with talks of some kind of punitive damage for Smith.
