Busta Rhymes, who has collaborated with the late, great J Dilla on many songs throughout his career previewed an unreleased and never before heard Dilla collab from his upcoming album on Dilla’s birthday (Feb. 7). Busta revealed to GQ in 2020: “J Dilla left me with over 300 beats before he passed. I’m extremely selective with who I give them to, which is why I haven’t given them to anybody except Raekwon and the was for Only Built For Cuban Links Part 2. Ive always tried to hold the legacy of the late, great J Dilla through all of my albums.”
Busta and J Dilla first collaborated when they hooked up via Q Tip of A Tribe Called Quest in the mid 1990s, and since then Dilla contributed to seven of Busta’s albums. “Still Shining”, “Show Me What You Got”, and “Turn Me Up Some” are among the songs that Dilla provided the sonic back drop for, and Busta used Dilla's beats on The Big Bang, Return of The Dragon and Extinction Level Event 2 posthumously.
In the above Instagram clip can hear Busta spit over the signature rugged Dilla drums , horns and synths: “I’m ‘bout to give you that shit that will cause a back pain, chest pain, head pain”. Busta doesn’t provide a release date for the track or his album, but he did post to Instagram recently that the album is done.
