Bel-Air, Peacock's popular reimagining of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, will officially get a third season.
With the debut of Season 2, it has become Peacock’s most-watched original sophomore series to date, Deadline reports. Season 2 finds all of the main cast members at a crossroads of sorts, with Will (Jabari Banks), trying to decide who he is, and whether he'll allow past behaviors to dictate how he moves in his new Bel-Air circle.
Bel-Air, debuted last year to rave reviews, praised for its nuanced approach to relevant issues, and the acting from its cast. The original series, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, was a monster hit for NBC and launched Will Smith's acting career.
Co-showrunner Rasheed Newson talked to PopSugar last March about the second season dynamics. “One of the things we talked about is with a sitcom, at the end of those 30 minutes, whatever problem we have is resolved,” said Newson. "[But] they lied to this boy for years. He feels like he really came here, opened up his heart to them, trusted them, and now he feels betrayed. It's going to be very hard for them to rebuild that."
