Stone was an integral brick in the foundations of both Hip-Hop and Neo-Soul music. As one third of The Sequence, Stone delivered "Funk You Up", the first Rap recording by a female Rap group, and the first Rap recording by a group from the south (Columbia, South Carolina). The Sequence fused Rap with harmonies, and their hits such as "Funky Sound" and "Funk You Up" have been sampled by Dr. Dre, KRS-ONE, DJ Kool, and countless others.
As a member of Vertical Hold, Angie pioneered a new version of R&B dubbed Neo-Soul. The group's 1993 debut, A Matter Of Time, and their follow up Head First (1995) showcased Angie's robust vocals and songwriting abilities.
Her 1999 Arista Records solo debut, Black Diamond produced "No More Rain", "Could Have Been You", and "Everyday". Mahogany Soul, Stone Love, The Art Of Love & War, and Unexpected solidified her as a force in R&B music.
