Legendary Street Dancer Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quinones to Be Honored With Chicago Street Naming

Legendary street dancer and choreographer Adolfo "Shabba-Doo" Quinones will be honored with a Chicago street naming on Friday (5/19).

The ceremony will take place at 1840 West Ohio Street in Chicago.

"It feels great and it's definitely been a long time coming," Shabba-Doo's son, Vashawn Quinones, told Rock The Bells. "Pops truly deserves it. Thanks to all of his fans and the city of Chicago for keeping his legacy alive."

Originally from Chicago, Shabba Doo is a founding member of the legendary Lockers and a member of the original Soul Train Gang. In addition to the highly successful and influential motion pictures Breakin' 1 and 2, Adolfo starred in and choreographed for Lambada,The Tonight Show, The Big Show and Saturday Night Live.

As a choreographer, Quinones worked with Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross and Madonna. Shabba Doo influenced generations of street dancers, and he was working on a motion picture based on his memoirs titled, The King Of Crenshaw: The Rise Of Shabba Doo The Forefather Of Hip Hop before his untimely passing in 2021.
