Billboard has released their results for the artists who sold the most vinyl records in 2021, although there are not a lot of Hip-Hop artists that cracked the top 10 in vinyl sales this past year, one, in particular, came through to represent the culture.
Popstars ran through the vinyl record charts in 2021, with Adele’s album 30 taking the #1 spot, as it sold 293,000 copies on wax. Following closely at #2 was Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour. Others included on the list was Prince’s Purple Rain, three Taylor Swift albums, and none other than Kendrick Lamar’s good kid m.A.A.d city.
Lamar’s 2012 critically acclaimed debut album reached #2 on the Billboard 200 list, not leaving the list for almost ten years. In 2021, good kid m.A.A.d city earned the #10 spot for top vinyl record sales, making it the only rap album in the top 10.
Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar and the people who worked on good kid m.A.A.d city for the huge accomplishments.
