Big Sean and Just Blaze React to Kanye's Comments on "Drink Champs"

By Kiani Belgrave

Kanye West definitely stirred up quite a bit of controversy with his recent visit to the “Drink Champs” podcast on Thursday (November 4). Covering topics about everything, including his beef with Drake, signing Big Sean, and Just Blaze “copying” his sound on The Blueprint, it's needless to say, out of the countless people name-dropped in the interview, many have a rebuttal for Ye’s comments.

When asked if Pusha T or Big Sean would win in a Verzuz, Ye went on an unexpected rant about the former G.O.O.D. Music signees Big Sean and John Legend.

“The worst thing I’ve ever done was sign Big Sean.” Kanye explained. “I know this man mama, bro. I’ve changed this man’s family. And both John Legend and Big Sean, when I ran for office, got used quick by the Democrats to come at they boy that actually changed they life. And that’s some sellout shit, and I don’t rock with neither of them.” Kanye explained.

In response, Big Sean clapped back with some receipts. He took to his Twitter account sharing photos of a recent interaction between the two, claiming that Kanye did not approach him with the same energy he had on the podcast.

“Was just wit this man, he ain’t say none of that!! And this was after the interview! I’m dying laughing at you @kanyewest.” Big Sean shared.

Just hours before the interview aired, Sean shared he had already been asked to give his side of the story on “Drink Champs.” Saying, “I Just got asked to be on the next 'Drink Champs', so I’m assuming Ye talkin crazy.” Which he would later officially confirm he would be visiting, tweeting, “I can’t wait to go on drink champs now!!!”

Sean wasn’t the only one caught off guard by Kanye’s comments. After Kanye claimed Just Blaze “copied” his half of the Blueprint Blaze also shared his thoughts on the interview and Ye’s accusations to his Instagram followers.

"None of what was said tonight regarding me fits with any of our history or our previous interactions - particularly in light of very recent attempts to work together again," Just Blaze continued. "Through recent years, he has reached out to collaborate on various projects, including a much rumored collaborative project that he was looking for me to handle a good amount of. It unfortunately never saw the light of day due to reasons unrelated to me. Most recently, a couple of months back, I woke up to a literal red alert from his people that he was looking for me for his last album in the 11th hour, We tried to pull something off, but it was way too last minute."

Drake, who also got called out in the controversial interview, liked Just Blaze’s post, confirming he is completely aware of the recent shenanigans involving his rap nemesis. Though he has not released an official statement, fans can probably count on hearing some subliminal shots directed at the Chicago emcee in Drizzy’s next verse.
