Jay-Z: "Rihanna Is a Generational Talent"

Rihanna will be headlining February's Super Bowl Halftime show, and in addition to getting considerable praise from last year's Halftime Show Emmy winner Dr. Dre, she has of course racked up acclaim from Jay-Z.

“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who has surpassed expectations at every turn,” Jay-Z, whose Roc Nation is an executive producer of the show, said in a statement. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent artists ever. Self-made in business and entertainment.”

Rihanna declined to perform at the Super Bowl back in 2019 in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick (the show was ultimately headlined by Maroon 5). Dr. Dre expressed similar concerns ahead of his Halftime performance, though he ended up being convinced by Jay-Z and Nas that it would be a powerful moment for everyone.

Rihanna's Super Bowl performance is sure to dazzle as well. The nine-time Grammy winner ranks as one of the best-selling female artists ever. Her last album was 2016’s Anti, and the superstar last performed publicly at the Grammy Awards in 2018. She'll hit the stage on February 12, 2023 at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
