As 50 Cent's smash debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin' celebrates 20 years, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified it's lead single "In Da' Club" Diamond, denoting sales of ten million. Released in 2003, "In Da' Club" rose to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. “My run was so uncomfortable that everyone would like to forget that it happened,” 50 told Billboard in an interview earlier this year. "That’s just the way it is with the artist community. I didn’t come in being friendly because I had to find a way into it, not find a way to be good enough to work in the community. The biggest compliment in the early stages was that artists felt like they’d made it when they got the deal. You had to earn the right to have the deal."

50 captioned his celebratory IG post: "In Da Club had officially reached Diamond - 10,000,000 singles sold. The 43rd Hip-Hop song to go Diamond. 121 songs of all times to do it. I feel good, I'm that thing 50 Cent. Diamonds are forever, that 50 Cent is no joke."

Erick Sermon of EPMD recently revealed to the My Expert Opinion podcast that he had an opportunity to sign 50 at one point. "When 50 was with Trackmasters he used to come to the house all the time and do songs," he said. "This was early 50, he was Def Squad." 50 eventually signed with Interscope Records and Dr. Dre's Aftermath as well as Eminem's Shady Records in 2002.
